Our History

Hugo Schwope founded H.W. Schwope & Sons soon after returning home from WWII. His four sons and he began with a homemade "cable-tool" that operated with a pulley and winch system that "pounded" the drill bit into the ground. This was a very labor intense process. In the early 1970s, he invested in his first two Ingersoll-Rand rotary-rigs. This allowed the business to significantly reduce costs, and time involved in drilling. 

Since then, Schwope Drilling has become known as the premier Water Well Drilling & Service company serving Kendall and surrounding counties. We now operate three rotary drilling rigs and five service trucks. We offer the best products on the market to ensure once we install your system, you won't have to see us again for a number of years. Warranties are available for a majority of our products. 

John, George, Jimmy and Larry are actively involved in all well drilling and service issues. Combined, they offer over 160 years of experience. Schwope Drilling operates all over the Hill Country and no job is too big or too complex!
